With the economic times in dire straits, and people not knowing from day to day if their job will be there for them; it is good to have a newsletter to field comments and editorials from across the spectrum so citizens can get a good feel for what is happening around not only the nation but locally. Our local situation is not in good condition with infrastructure improvements badly needed and far behind schedule. Hearing of job losses and with building of homes virtually non existent the local economy is struggling. With the loss of International Paper Company in Stockbridge; this will take a large manufacturer that has been in the area out of the picture. And throwing money at the problem is not the answer. Sound business and fundamental ideals about the economy are the answer to the problem. But in many ways the problem is not going to right itself until people wake up and see that our nation is crumbling from within. Hopefully they will awaken before it is too late.

The actions of our government taking the taxpayers money to bailout failing businesses is alikened to the socialist governments of the world and not a democratic society. We were not asked for the money and when polls indicated how the public felt the legislators still decided to take our money and give it to failing businesses and in the process found a way to make our government part of these businesses. We as Americans who have worked hard to make this nation a home for those who love our liberties see these actions as being against the best interest of the people and against the ideals of the founding fathers.
We have systems in place to take care of a failing business that is why they were created. Now we have circumvented the focus of the law.
And with the President helping the big three automakers with some of this money that was allocated by the Congress to help financial institutions then we have a direct conflict with the Constitution. The Congress did not appropriate that money for the big three car makers and the President took it upon himself to change the rules because he said it was the right thing to do. The right thing to do Mr. President is to leave the taxpayers money alone and let it be used for the purposes that it is supposed to be used for. Our nation cannot fix it's problems with the current ideas in place.
It is going to take serious people with some serious ideas to fix the nation as it stands or it will not support itself and crumble from within.

I watched the inauguration today of President Barack Obama as 44th President of the United States. In his speech today he spoke very eloquently and laid out some plans that will take superhuman strength to accomplish. His dialogue also put the world on notice that we will hold anyone accountable for their actions that might be against the United States.
I hope he understands the job that lays ahead of him. Our nation is in trouble from within and from outside. If he is not up to the job may God help us.

Socialism is here friends and neighbors. As our nation moves further to nationalism of banks, mortgage companies and in other areas of our everyday life we are losing our liberties and as the economy further slumps and people lose their jobs and livelihoods then socialism will have an easier time making a push in our nation. The rights of the individuals is being taken away and is being pushed to a society of the whole. That is Stalinist Communism and Fascist Nazism on a scale that this nation might not be able to recover from. The plans that President Obama has put forth for a Stimulus and the battle he is having with the Senate over the items included within the package are the basis for a nation preparing itself for further disaster. Throwing money on this problem is like throwing gas on a fire instead of water. Ignorance of facts can be fixed but being just plain stupid can not be fixed.
My friends and neighbors hold on tight because the world inwhich we all knew is gone and we will have to learn to either exist in the new one or perish. It's our choice.

Thank you sir for your continued work for the people of Henry County. It is people such as yourself who make a difference in the lives of so many. You bring us the news we cannot see or hear anywhere else. You are talked about behind your back, belittled, and renamed all because of you exercising your right to freedom of speech. They attack for petty reasons and seek judgement for not being able to see what is so simple the truth. Those of us who are taxpaying citizens of Henry County congratulate you sir for doing a service to the community that is sorely needed. "Walk that mile and take the stand, for the rights of human dignity, human conscience, and human liberty. We who suffer the strife of the publican who taxes dearly and gives so little stand with you in this human discourse."

We hope the upcoming Tea Party at the parking lot of the Henry County Administration Building will be a success. It is time for the citizens to voice their opinions about the rising taxes that many do not see. The undercover taxes we find in so many products and services. Just like property taxes. When reassessments take your property to a higher level it raises the amount of tax we pay on that property. It is now time to let those in power know how you really feel. We the people have an opportunity here to forge a voice that can be heard all the way to Washington and those who sit in gilded glory. If we have time to watch a show on TV then we have time to voice an opinion about something that affects us all. Hopefully, we all will learn something from this time inwhich we live.

Dear Henry County Citizen,

I hope that everyone is not confused by what is going on with the Henry County Republican Party. The new chairman, Mr. Eddy, only has his own best interests in mind by taking over the party. Look for him to run for District 4 Commissioner in the next election. Also, look out for his new direction of the Party. He is going to make a lot of personal comments on topics rather than remain fair and objective, so that people remember him come election time. He learned the lesson of name recognition from his last run for County Chair of the Board of Commissioners. He then has hijacked the party and is looking to make his own personal public relations machine out of what was one of the most fair, accurate, and objective party organizations in the State. Mr. Bowman, keep your friends close and those looking to overthrow you closer. Don't give Mr. Eddy an opportunity.

I think the Henry County Tea Party was a success on April 15th at the Admin Building. Nearly 100 people with the right intentions of worrying about where their tax money goes were there to voice their opinion. There is another event planned for the 4th of July at the same place about our "Freedom". Our liberty and freedom is and has been at stake here in our nation as there have been so many around the world who want to see this great nation fail.
Hopefully, we will have a wonderful turnout at that event also and I would like to thank especially Don Henderson, Larry Stanley, Mike Eddy, Reid Bowman, David Curry and all the others who helped to make this last event a success. We were heard and that is what counts. Thank you all for attending.

Mike Eddy,
Please explain why the Henry County Republican Party suddenly is taking up issues that you feel strongly about personally and how that relates to your desire of name recognition for the upcoming commissioners race for district 4 race. Do not be fooled, Mr. Eddy is not trying to grow the party for any other reason than to get votes and he cannot cite any other reason that he should be district 4 commissioner other than he lost to B.J. for the chair position. Republicans, you can support the party by NOT going to the meetings, we can have a strong turnout even though Mr. Eddy will have to stepdown to run in the next race leaving a vacant position at the helm of the Party.

Some folks believe that Mr. Eddy 'stole' a position in the Henry GOP by unseating others whose egos and self appointed status entitled them to run the local party.

The vote that placed Mr. Eddy in the chairmanship was not even close. Apparently a sufficient number of folks believed the local party would continue to languish under the old guard.

Speaking from personal opinion, as published in the Citizen Newsletter, failure to seek the conservative base and return the party to its former core principles would be the death knell.

Let's face it. The movers and shakers were clannish and portrayed an attitude of superiority. That kept me from personal involvement withthe party for quitea while.

My position is not based on a cult personality. That fault has brought us such elected officials as BJ Mathis and failed campaigns by self annoited ones. Results matter. Elections have consequences.

Mr. Eddy has my full faith and allegiance. He is strongly principled conservative. He is more interested in correct policy than political pandering. To that end, he is openly honest.

To restate, if you have a real problem with Mr. Eddy state your case. But be prepared to be sent packing if you cannot move beyond personality and sour grapes.

You are correct Larry with your summary of Mr. Eddy. Mr. Eddy is a principled gentleman and it is nice to see someone with a real feeling for what he believes without having to look around to see if it is okay to take the stand he has taken. I have spoken with him several times and I feel the young gentleman has a future ahead of him and if I have anything to do with it I am going to see that he will be able to pursue that future. The fresh new outlook he brings to the party without having an ego to feed is just what the people here need. Thanks for supporting this young man who I feel will be good for Henry County.

I would like to thank Mr. Larry Stanley for reading my piece entitled "Freedoms Ways" at the Freedom and Taxes Rally at the Henry County Administration Building on July 4, 2009. Due to serious health concerns I was not able to attend the rally. I hope that everyone who attended the rally learned something valuable about the way our government is run here in our county. For those who could turn out thank you very much. For those who didn't I feel that you missed something very special.

With all we do in life we often find that at the end of the day we may have made a difference. If we only have made a difference in one life then we have triumphed. We often only see and hear what is around us but in that glimmer of hope we do find that we are and have been something to think about.
Often there is some problem or affliction that will become a stumbling block but in the view of things we can overcome them to be able to make a difference not only to those around us but to those we don't even know. Inspiration is something that only comes in rare forms in society today. But in the scheme of things we are who we are and we can rise above what is seen on the landscape around us. Never think that something cannot be changed because it can. Walking that narrow path to yesterday, today and tomorrow we will find who we are and where we are going. Many see the world in black and white with shades of gray but I see it with a multitude of colors that create a patchwork of a quilt that makes our society what it is from beginning to end.
This nation rose from the antiquated woodlands and became something our forefathers never quite envisioned and that is a nation within a nation that has built upon itself something that undoubtedly we continue to further change. Do we want to continue on a course where our nation is left in the smoke of a billowing socialist state or do we want to become as we should as written so long ago a people with the knowledge that fills the mind of freedom. Cast the fears away and feel the words within and let them mean something instead of nothing at all. Always remember we are a people walking upon a path we know nothing about until we get to the end and the answers will be provided then. Until that time we will only be guided by the knowledge of what has come before and acting upon today's world in a way that it cannot see until the veil is lifted and we can see our very existence upon the glorious land. I would like to thank Mr. Stanley and his son for delivering my much needed hospital bed. Through the help of good friends my life has been made some easier to make it more comfortable to sleep. Our basic freedoms are always under attack from the very government that is sworn to protect them. The government under the guise of helping us out of our economic crisis has found a way to reach into our lives even further and take what is ours. When Americans stop being Americans then our nation is in serious trouble. We have a President who would give our nation away to the very people who would like to see us dead. We have people in the Congress both House and Senate who are worried about the rights of those who have invaded our nation and are taking the very life blood of our people away. Hopefully the passing of a healthcare bill by the Democrats in the House will be a short lived thing. With a lot of discussion and prayer maybe, just maybe the Senate will not pass the bill which has Pelosi gloating right now. The people of our nation are not being served correctly by the passage of this type of bill. The needs of the people are being usurped by the power of big government and leaving the voice of the citizens by the side of the road. Our leadership in the House has let the American public down by passing such a bill. President Obama has taken this nation down the road to debt and ruin enough and the House has done nothing but add fuel to the fire. The Senate has a chance to redeem themselves and not place themselves on the shelf of shame with the House. Only time will tell.

It is truly a shame when our BoC has brought itself down to the level that it has with hiding things from the public. Recently, a woman who has done things for the county and was involved with area teens was found to be selling x-rated and adult materials online.
Our Chairwoman Ms. Mathis decided to hide it under the carpet and announced that she didn't want this to get out. This was to be a covert activity where the BoC would hide something that is not moral and would make them look guilty of collusion. What is really serious is when the writer, researcher, and person who found this material is told that he cannot use this material. That is infringement of freedom of speech. It is a good thing that Mr. Stanley has his own e-newsletter to spread the word about this shameful activity about our BoC. What is interesting is the fact that others would not want to print this article. What if the information about Watergate was kept secret and President Nixon got away with his antics? True journalism is not afraid to print anything especially when it is the truth. We are lucky to have Mr. Stanley's e-newsletter to find out something that should be known by the taxpaying public of Henry County. Thank you sir.

There has been something happening with the Henry County Board of Commissioners for sometime that I and other residents of the county have had problems with. That is when we contact our commissioner by email we very seldom get a response. Sometimes the emails are important and need answering. We have even heard the commissioners say that they answer every email that is sent to them. That is a falsehood and they know it. It is not just one commissioner but the group as a whole. But even our local state representative has had a lack of response on something of importance to a group that I am aware of that needed an answer and never got one from him. It can be an email to say we thank them for doing a good job and they could say you are welcome. They are becoming like the person at the drive-thru window who cannot say thank you for buying their product. It is called using good manners. But much of that has been lost to yesterdays voice.

With unfettered story we see our nation reel to and fro from the Dubai financial crisis. This shows the weakness within our system and how they are tied to one another. The banking crisis is far from over and it will show more in the days and months to come. The continuing of bank failures here in our own nation shows the darkness inwhich times have come. There will be money made on the day after Thanksgiving but it will only be a timeshare basis with the banks. When the day is done the citizens will be those who will pay the debts owed by the many businesses that cannot hold themselves together.

Rules and laws are made for the innocent in our land. The guilty are guarded by the same rules and laws. What is truly shameful is the fact that a county as large as Henry does not have an overseeing body of citizens to make sure the elected officials chosen to represent the public do their job correctly and without remorse. Too often we see rulings by the Board of Commissioners that are not in the best interest of the public. We also see this same board make rulings outside the juridiction and out of site of the people. What are they hiding? The people deserve to know what is going on behind those closed doors and from those retreats over a hundred miles away. People look and are told that it can be changed at the ballot box but often it is too late. That is why our county needs a group to oversee this ruling body who has no one to police it. It can police itself but they don't seem to have the backbone to do so. In the interest of fairness to the citizens the Board of Commissioners should conduct business in the daylight and not in the back room. And don't come back and say we don't do business in the back because that would be a falsehood and directly against the rules of government. Let's as a community stand and say this is enough and bring legality back to our county. Let's do so before all is lost to those who are but moneychangers.

The niceness toward the new county manager by our chairman is very strange. I hope that he keeps the best interest of the people of Henry County at heart and will not be a yes man for our chairman. We will be able to see in the first few days of his job performance. I honestly hope that he does a good job for Henry County and will not find himself maneuvered by the sitting politicians. When the public approaches him I hope he listens.

I have noticed many changes here in Henry County over the years. One of the biggest changes I have seen is in the political arena. Today we have a government run by Republicans. But from what I have seen this is in name only. Most Republicans want to see a conservative form of government. But our government here in Henry is far from being conservative. They find ways to spend money. Instead of finding ways to make our local government smaller they continue to find ways to expand it. When in a time of economic peril would a government want to spend money unwisely and to spread more and more waste upon the taxpayers. This is the ultimate in liberal spending that has been occurring here. The problem will not get any better until this governmental body is either replaced or they start listening to the people that they are supposed to represent. Whether they like it or not those people they represent are not stupid and they know how to figure and in a lot of cases they know far more than those sitting and holding that governmental authority. Many times they react by saying the job is not easy and that we should put our name on a ballot. They have missed the point of their job by saying this. They were the ones who sought the job and they were elected by people who put their trust in them. If they cannot honor those citizens with doing their jobs correctly then they should do the right thing and resign. But until we get those people in office that have the true interest of those citizens of Henry County at heart then we will have no better than what we have today. If you want to run for office contact the HC Citizen Newsletter and let them know your intentions. Let's take a stance against liberalism and fight for the conservative body that we truly need here in Henry County.

There may be some angst in the fields of the political spotlight of Henry County. Some are wanting to see a real change in this county in the likes it has never seen before. From the people on the street there are rumblings of being tired of seeing the same old thing at the Z&B, BoE, and BoC meetings. These people vote for things like the zombies of this past summers hit movie. But to make changes people must get involved. And until that happens your voice will not be heard.

In everyday life here in Henry County the average person goes about trying to make a living for themselves for food and shelter. It is small wonder that most of these folks cannot attend a Monday morning board of commissioners meeting. That is why these meeting were set up that way so the public could not be involved. And most of the meeting is conducted in executive session out of sight of the cameras. That is one reason why the public finds itself not caring what happens because they know a select few are making the decisions whether right or wrong.
This is also how a society declines when it loses attention to it's surroundings. There is one thing for sure the BoC will spend our money right into extinction while the public watches.

It Is Time, It is Our Duty

It is time for the citizens of Henry County to come forward and let the Crooked Commissioners know that they must go that they are no better than the king we left in England to form our own Country. We the citizens of Henry County have been raked over some very hot coals in the past few years. Remember we were forced to pay $8+ Million for a lie and the County even forced the property owner to sale the property to the County at a loss thru the Court. And then the person that started the lie gained power as the Chair of the Board of Commissioners by suing the County to hold on to her power.
That was the real birth of Queen Mathis, and we have been paying for it every day with all of her board jesters that do any and everything she asks without question. It makes one wonder what the Queen is doing to keep them in check. We are now facing our County tax money being used to build things we do not need like soccer fields and walking paths that will lead to nothing but financial ruin for us the tax payers. We are letting the sitting Government re- zone friends property so they can build things that are not in the best interest of the nearby citizens or their property. The following is from our Declaration of Independence. “laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”
What this means is simply if you see that your Government is abusing the power we granted to them it is not only your right it is your duty to stop it at any means that are open to you legally in order to restore the correct from of government that the Country was founded on. The first way we can restore the correct form of Government is to vote the offenders out of office and let them know they are wrong in their actions while they represented the people of the County. If this fails we must resort to having them recalled by the voters of the County this can be difficult but remember it is your duty to help restore the right form of Government so everyone is represented equally not one sided as has been the case here in Henry County. Simply put it’s time lets pull together and do our duty.

How far can we as citizens go to let our feelings be known about plans being proposed by our local government? We can go ask as many questions as need be to get the right answer. Unknown to many we do have a right to speak up and say enough is enough whether it is politically correct or not. We have the right to be those citizens that were promised in the Constitution of the United States. If we lose sight of this then we are lost and our society will vanish from the face of the earth without a whimper. Find the fight that was instilled in our people by those who came before us. Don't be afraid of mere words only be afraid of armed response. Then if that happens our government has gone too far.

What I Saw at the BOC Meeting

What I saw at the December 15, 2009 meeting of the Henry County Board of Commissioners is six people that had been bought off to help a friend. The meeting room was packed with people, citizens of Henry County that brought up valid points as to why this rezoning should not take place. The people brought up high traffic on small roads with large trucks. The Commissioners could care less about multitudes of large trucks on small County roads, that is what they said when they raised their hand to vote yes on the rezoning. The citizens brought up the fact about the property being on a watershed for County water supply. The Commissioners said they don’t care about the County water supply when they raise their hands to vote yes on the rezoning. The people even brought up that the property is very close to a school and children would be in danger from the high truck traffic. The Commissioners said they could care less about Henry County Children when they raised their hands to vote yes on the rezoning of the property.

The property owner Mr. Ray Lambert stated very well that his father started the farm many years ago. He stated he got married on the farm and had worked it. Then Mr. Lambert proceeded to tell the Commissioners and the citizens of Henry County that he could care less about his family history or the history of the County by fighting tooth and nail to get this rezoning done by any means. Mr. Lambert is looking for the all mighty Dollar and is willing to sell out his family history for that Dollar.

A historic family in Henry County even came to speak in opposition to the rezoning.
Mr. Nail who is bounded by the subject property on two sides to the North stated that he was very concerned about two small ponds and rain runoff and other concerns were brought up also. But even Mr. Nail’s comments fell on dead ears of the Commissioners who were counting their money.

Oh sure the Commissioners put on a good show by asking good questions that made a good point, but remember election time is coming up for two Commissioners and they were some of the ones asking the questions. Mr. Bowman asked good questions but did not follow thru when he did not like the answer, but in the end his hand went up to vote yes. Mr. Bassler asked good questions but in the end he voted yes. Mr. Holder stated he had family members that live near by and said he lives about three miles from the property. And yet he voted yes, in the end money talks and citizens can inhale chlorine while the Commissioners stroll to the bank.

I must say that I am very proud of the citizens of the King Mill Road area; they are well spoken and well organized. I hope the rest of the County citizens take a lesson from these great citizens that fought a good fight. Yes they lost but they gave it a great effort and I hope more citizens step up and take on the money hungry Commissioners of Henry County, if we keep the heat on them they may get tired of defending them selves and give up there money grabbing ways, if not we just need to fire them come election time.

The HC Citizen brings so much to the minds of our people out there to learn more about what is happening not only within our local arena but nationally also. I want to thank him personally for giving us this chance to voice our opinions and beliefs in our land where freedom of speech is not as widely accepted as it used to be.

The exodus of County personal will continue until the reason is gone and that is Chairman Mathis. The County employees saw how Mathis bullied her way into office by suing us the taxpayers to gain her seat of power. They knew then that they were in for a hard time. The employees might have thought that with the way she took office that the citizens might get her recalled and they (The Employees) could hang on until then. But it has been a year and she is still in office and the employees are starting to get tired of being Mathis’s puppets to make her look good. I have studied this for a year and I think I have a good profile of what is wrong. When a person needs power so as to promote them selves tells me that she was oppressed as a child and did not get the attention she wanted so she felt left out. That is one reason she has stopped at nothing to gain power and make her look good at our expense. With this type of person the only way to change her way of thinking is intensive psychological therapy to get her to see her problem and make the change. Any way you see it B.J. Mathis is unfit to hold office of any kind and we the public need to see this and get her out of office for the sake of our County and our kids.

What do you think of when someone says they give you their word on something?
Well one would think that the person giving their word would do just that but most of the time they don’t. Why do some people keep their word and some don’t? Some people break their word because they want to look good to someone, some people break their word for the money. What would you do if someone broke their word that they gave you would you let info out about that person that broke their word to you? I sure would it’s called pay back is fair play in my book. It’s like my parents always said and I should have listen better but I did not. They said never trust Lawyers, Bankers, Insurance people of all kinds, Banker Insurance are the worst of all. What I am trying to say is when someone acts with dishonor toward you some times you must fight fire with fire. That is the way most of the younger people live today, so to survive we must adapt to survive our selves. So think twice before you break your word, it could backfire on you.

Our world is always changing from the bright to the dark, and from the dark to the bright. We have our elected officials riding this corridor with what we would call a long and happy medium for them. The taxpayers on the other hand are riding this wave and paying the dues for all. We can only expect in office what we go out and elect and usually that is with low numbers that makes things worse. 4 or 5 percent of the people should not elect those to run a county the size of Henry. But that is what has been happening. And we get what we pay for in return. A small few work so hard to see that these people are not totally without reign. But there will be a day if this doesn't change that the few won't be there. Then what will the county have? What it pays for and less.

Thoughts On The 2010 County Elections

As we begin a new year we must start to look at whom will we the taxpayers of Henry County will vote for in the two Commission Districts that will be up for grabs. I hope that the people that decide to run for the 4th & 5th Districts are people with integrity to represent all of the people and not just their own interest or people that don’t hurt their little feelings, like my Mom always said if you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen.
We the people need honor in our County Commission not what we have had for too many years that the County may take years to recover from. We must look and study each person that will run for office and make sure that person is someone with integrity and honor. We must look deep as to see if the integrity and honor is real or is it a façade put on to impress the voters and then when elected that face comes off and the real face of evil shows it’s self. If we don’t catch it in time than we will have to wait four years to get rid of the person that tricked us into voting them into office. And what damage could they cause in that four-year span, well look at what we have now. It is time to start the process to replace the Henry County Government across the spectrum and 2010 is just the beginning as the people of Henry County look, listen and learn more about how we have been treated for far too long.

A Tragic Year to come

I know what you are thinking; you usually think that the year to come will be better than the past year. Normally that is true however we live in Henry County Georgia where the politicians run rampant with our tax money with no regards to the effect it will have on the County and it’s people. They are just looking out for the friends that help put them in office. They do this with a cocky I am better than you attitude. On the last day of the year I saw on the front page of the Henry Herald news paper a photo of B.J. Mathis from last year being sworn in as chairman of the Board of Commissioners. What is up with this, is she trying to gloat that she is the Queen Bee or is she that desperate for attention, we know she likes to lie and play dress-up on a battlefield where no battle took place.
Mathis is planning on shoving the fiber optic crap down our throats whether we can afford it or not in these hard economic times we are facing, she wants to blow $14 Million of tax-money on something we don’t need. And don’t forget that she needs to buy Tara Field Airport so she can pay back one of her campaign contributors that helped her get in office. We the tax-payers of Henry County need to watch Mathis with an eagles eye or the County could go under and then we would be in a world of hurt as a County and a people of the County because we let it happen.

2010 will see some good things happen, two Commissioners that will be running for their seats will most likely lose the election. The two Commissioners will not represent their people they are to represent. It will be a good first step in bringing in better people into the Commission, people that will do what is right for the people of the County and not for a friend or them selves. That is part of the problem with these Commissioners, either they don’t do anything or they do for just who they want to, that is not right so they must go.
We the tax-payers have the power to fire them with our vote you just need to go vote and they will be out of here and we can begin to heal as a County that had been lead down the wrong path by people thinking the wrong way.

America, the land of the free and home of the brave. This saying means so much to so many, and it is not free. We have paid so much for our freedom with the lives of thousands of our loved ones, that gave their lives so we would be free today. We put up monuments to remember and honor those that protected our freedom as a way to say thank you for what you have done. Sadly when a great monument such as the Veterans Wall of Honor is left in such disrepair and the bad workmanship that took place in the construction process is left to the elements it reflects on all of us. This great monument is in a County park and is the responsibility of Henry County. A lot of blood sweat and tears went into getting the monument built for our veterans of all wars, to show them the pride we have for them and to let them know we will never forget them. I know that times are tight and money is short but this is bigger than all of us, this must be done. I have heard that Commissioner Bowman would consider selling Nash Farm to build a technical School, that is a good idea. There are always solutions to the problems we have in the County, if the County is willing to sacrifice the things that are not that important.

Remember when we elected a new Sheriff and the Commissioners salary was to come down to a percentage of what the new Sheriff makes. Well to the best of my knowledge this has not happened. So I would ask the Henry County Board of Commissioners to vote to bring down their salary as they are supposed to have done a year ago and take the difference and put it towards fixing the Veterans Wall of Honor. I know some of the Commissioners are going to cry out, that is a lot of money to sacrifice. I ask them this, is it more than what our Veterans sacrificed with their lives so you could be free to make your money? I ask all citizens to contact your Commissioner and ask them to get the repairs going on the Veterans Wall of Honor it is in a great park with a lot of good history of Henry County, don’t let the wall be a blight on the park and County and it’s people.

Let’s Build a Door

On January 13, 2010, Chairperson Elizabeth “BJ” Mathis gave us the State of the County Address in it’s taped format. She spoke giving a pep talk to the county that everything would be alright in the days to come. She named off figures and numbers that the county has borrowed and will need to pay back down the road. And yes we the taxpayer will be the one’s to pay for the numbers. She gave a good lesson in counter-talk and overplaying one’s hand.

The whole message led up to the fiber optics initiative that she has strongly been in force behind to get it done. She has spoke about the good it will do, and the place where the money will be coming from to build such an entity. The only thing she has not placed on the table is the cost to maintain such a venture. There will have to be a separate budget and the taxpayer money will fund it. The citizens should be given a chance to vote on such a high priced program that will not affect everyone who will be paying for it.

Ms. Mathis did mention that land had been acquired for a technical/vocational school here in the county. This is a good program that will help many people who will not be attending college and those who must change their jobs. This is the one program that most people will be in agreement with.

Ms. Mathis mentioned acquiring the five acres of land next to the jail that used to be the RV center. She said that she had received $175,000 from Washington to help expand the 911 and emergency center. She failed to mention the cost of the land at $1.15 million.
This clearly offsets any money from Washington.

The county unemployment is at 10.3% being .1% higher than the State of Georgia. Thus giving a great hardship to those involved. Ms. Mathis could give no clear answer as to how to help these families. Here again this is one of the greatest problems to hit this county in decades and our leadership is depending too much on outside aid that will have to be paid back with interest by you and me.

What we need is more clear understanding between those in the government including Ms. Mathis with those in the community who are living in the real world. Many of the citizens of Henry County are on Social Security and there will be no cost of living raise for them this year and possibly next year. Five or ten dollars means a lot to a person who does not have it buy medicine or see a doctor. There is a solid sector of the county that is aging and many are already disabled and that leads to further hardships that have not been addressed.

With closing, this speech was clearly a pep talk to the citizens of the county. She wants a door to be built so someone may knock upon it. Maybe one day she and those she shares her seat with will understand that people will not knock on your door knowing that nothing is behind it. Thank you for listening.

My View of the State of the County Address Jan 2010


Well again this year under the rule of the Queen Bee we the ordinary taxpaying citizens get to see the taped version instead of what was said at the event for the power players of Henry County. I guess the lonely taxpayer is too common to see the big event at Eagles Landing Country Club for the Snobs of the County, that’s right I said it.

B.J. Mathis starts out by saying that 2009 was a challenging year but it brought new ideas on how to bring in more money for the County. When you have a full staff, it is not that hard to find new ways to rip off the taxpayers of the County.

She stated that revenue is down all fees are down and the SPLOST are down by about 12%. She said that some projects had to be put on hold until the money becomes available. Is this why the Veterans Wall of Honor is in the shape it’s in and Nash Farm is getting things done? Whatever happened to priority first, Veterans come over a lie for Mathis to play dress up at ( Nash Farm).

Then it started getting deep. She was very happy about the award winning financial report that sited honesty, openness, and fiscal integrity. What is she thinking with? There has been so much lying, backroom deals and temper tantrums going on mainly by her to get what she wants so she can pay back friends that helped her get into office it would make for a great movie of the week.

She even talked about the five acres of land the County just bought that was the RV center. It struck me as funny that she said it was a SPLOST 3 purchase that we voted on in 2008. My question is how did the County know that the RV center would be going out of business back then, or did the County help them go out of business, something to think about.

One of the things I agreed on was the remodel of the old police station to turn it into the new elections office it was needed very badly. However my concern is that we used Spalding County inmates to do the work so we could save money. What is wrong with our own County inmates it seems it would be even cheaper to use ours.

The County has secured Millions of dollars from grants and stimulus funds for projects that would have been put on hold until the money was found. What ever happen to saving money up until you have the money to do what you want to do with it? This County has gotten about $50 Million in stimulus funds and grants that will have to be paid back by you and I the taxpayers of Henry County. And with the County joining all the other Counties across the Country grabbing this money left and right, they are helping the downfall of this Country economically.

The program to buy foreclosed homes and fix them up and sale them is working according to Mathis. The County has bought 61 homes and has sold 6. That’s right people 6, that’s .10% success rate. If that’s Mathis’s idea of a working project than she is more mentally challenged than I thought and has no business running the County and needs to step down.

We got $ 226,380 in federal earmarks to make the exit 218 at I75 the gateway to the speedway. This is a total waste of money on something that was started by bootleggers and promotes drinking and then get in your car and drive home if you don’t wreck and kill your self or someone else.

She pleaded to the citizens of the County to make sure and fill out the 2010 census form so they would get an accurate count. Because if the County can show a certain number of citizens live in the County than they could get more grants and federal money to better the County. I say the way the County has abused the taxpayers of the County, they don’t deserve no more money until they learn what it means to serve the citizens first and not them selves. I will refuse to fill it out and will ask my friends and family to do the same, this County must learn that it’s we the people with the power and not them!! That’s right folks I am mad, when our Chairman of the Board of Commissioners says its “Easy Money”. It’s not easy money Chairman it’s money people worked hard for and you want it to pad the pockets of your friends and not help the County.

Then Mathis had the audacity to say that most of the jobs holders in Henry County are in the 5 lowest sectors. This is a nice way of telling us that we are below herself and the people in the government. Again Chairman this County was founded on honest hard working people who did not mind getting their hands dirty. That is this County’s history and it will not change no matter how much you try it won’t happen, we are who we are and that’s it. She harped on the quality of life here in Henry County. Those are just buzz words to demean the average citizen in the County. Chairman Mathis again school is back in for you. Your value of quality of life is different than mine and it’s different than any one in the County, we all are different and the sooner you learn that fact the better you will be.

Everything Chairman Mathis said was just a big talk up for getting the fiber optic program she wants to shove down our throats, which will bring the County closer to being big brother to all of us and we will have to pay for the upkeep of the system that will watch over us, now that’s a fine kettle of fish.

If you sit back and study this article about the State of the County Address you will find it is all true. And you will come to the conclusion I have the Current Chairman of the BOC is unfit for the job and needs to step down or get recalled. If not than this County will be in worse shape than we are in now. And it will be our children that will pay the price for our inactions of today and they deserve better than that.

Take a look around and see where your life has taken you today. The sun rose and then it set. What happened in that period to make your life and others better? Walk to a door and open it and you will see what is there in nature and time. Then seek a mirror and watch time pass upon a face of the ages.


Close your eyes and then open them again, you will see the same face, but it is older. Yesterday had already been there in the mirror and with a blink of an eye it was gone. Many may ask where did it go? That is the secret of the ages where we look past yesterday and never saw it.

The St. Valentine's Day Massacre: Henry County Style
Most of us have heard about the famous murder that took place in Chicago labeled the St. Valentine's Day Massacre where warring factions of the mob establishment killed several people in a warehouse. Al Capone was believed to have been the one who ordered the job done. Now let's fast forward about eighty years to today. Henry County has proven to have itself a St. Valentine's Day Massacre of it's own brewing.

Here though we are not talking about mob hits and just down right murder we are talking about something else entirely. We are talking about the murder of taxpayers money through a system that seems to have a bottomless pit. The taxpayers have been lined up against the wall of greed and have been drained of their money to create things in this county that we just don't need. Look at the plans for the Hudson Bridge Rd-Jonesboro Rd. Corridor. This is ridiculous wanting to bring such a creation to Henry County. The people don't get the quality service of roads, schools, and other amenities as it is already. Why would anyone want to bring such a creation to the county? Because they have not the forethought to see the problems that it will create and the troubles it will bring with it.

The taxpayers are being fleeced as it is through land deals such as the one that made the Abernathy family very rich and the taxpayers $4 million dollars poorer.
Not to mention the land deals that helped to make the former Sheriff's family a good deal more richer. A massacre in the making at the wallet.

Let's show how a massacre is accomplished with a person who has lived here all their lives. The Chamber of Commerce and Board of Commissioners finds out about a company wanting to locate within Henry County. Then either one of the rich in the group will go out and pay those good people what they feel is a nice sum for their property or threaten them with eminent domain. Then there is the idea of getting a good friend of the Chamber and BoC to sell their property at a premium to the folks who want to locate here. Of course they have no respect for their neighbors and friends they have known for years. Money talks and the rest ..well you know the story.

So, we would like to wish everyone a happy St. Valentine's Day here in Henry County. Just be careful to watch your wallet because that massacre is lurking around the corner.

At the last BoC meeting there was a gentleman there telling them about the plans for the Hudson Bridge Rd-Jonesboro Rd Corridor that the Chamber of Commerce, Development Authority, and BJ Mathis want to build. Of course it will take a couple of decades before they see it done. But what was interesting to me as a viewer was the fact that the smiling little man at the podium was talking down to the commissioners and I don't think they caught him doing it. He was just a mouth piece for those who drew the plans and he could be what we used to call a pitch man at a carnival. Well folks this is no carnival and we are talking about our future and wallets. And for those on the BoC, I would advise them to wake up and take their heads out of the clouds because reality is just setting in. Times are going to get worse than they are due to the lack of good judgment and sound fiscal responsibility. It is always the citizen who must carry upon his back the brunt of any new folly to come along by the sitting government. We the people deserve better and hopefully one day we shall have better before our time is up.

Please for GOD sake quit spending our tax money. Have you not heard that we are in a recession. We don't need to be purchasing or building another park nor do we need to be pledging the tax payers money for private enterprise. We are already taxed to the hilt. Will you quit when every homeowner and commercial property owner in the county goes into foreclosure and there is no tax money coming in? Please stop spending and maybe you can lower the county taxes or is it asking too much of you to give back some of our money.

Thanks to Mr. Stanley we are getting the news that would not be heard otherwise here in Henry County. His new format for the newsletter is excellent and should provide more room for articles being submitted by us the public. We are blessed to have this online publication.
Now it is Easter time and let us give thanks to our Heavenly Father for His Son who came to free man of his sins. We are blessed even in this time of economic trouble. We still have our lives and ideas. And when we have that we can survive.
I road yesterday and noticed another business gone. That was the 84 Lumber Company. I don't know when it went out but that is another building supplier gone. The wholesale builder supplier in Stockbridge went down a few months back. It makes me wonder how many businesses are gone now here in Henry County? I hear of all this talk of improvement but where?
In this 2010 election year, we the people need to get out and vote for changes that really will help this fragile economy before it has totally slipped away from us.

Well Henry County lost one commissioner to run for the local Senate seat and we have replaced him with a very nice and smart young man in Monroe Roark. I feel he will do a fine job in the seat of the second district. A special election will be held in November to find a permanent replacement on the board. This election season looks to be interesting this year.

Hopefully, the Veterans Wall of Honor Preservation Committee will be able to get the needed repairs done by the county that has neglected it. There has been some repairs made to the Wall of Honor site. This is a beginning. Hopefully with God's help all the repairs will be done this year. The county has been working well with the Veterans Wall of Honor Preservation Committee. We have made strides in getting things accomplished. The Memorial Day Ceremony should be a very nice one this year set up completely by the Veterans groups and with the aid of the Parks and Rec. We all wish for a successful event this year.

With the coming of the elections this year we also face another piece that will be on the ballot. It is about Tax Allocation Districts. The citizens need to vote no on this issue because it is on there to give the BoC and Development Authority clear access to developing lands that are not supportive of a TAD. They will want to use this to develop the corridor between Hudson Bridge and Jonesboro Rd. If not this commission but any future commission will have this tool to develop at will. And this is not right for the people of Henry County.

There has been quite a lot of bickering between the Tea Party Movement and the NAACP as of late. I watched today on the cable news as these two groups are fighting with words to reach the high ground. But they don't really realize that there is no high ground to reach anymore.


They need to take a look at yesterday. Back when the NAACP was battling groups of white people who again were looking for the high ground. This was the time before the White Supremeist Groups and the Black Panthers. This was the early times when a white man began the NAACP and fought for equal rights.


But in today's world, all groups are based upon one thing and that is fear of the other. Fear can be a destructive force in this world. So, think about where we have been and where we have brought ourselves today.


Good people of America, we need to remember that we are all Americans without any prefix titles we are just Americans. And we must remember that we are "We the People of these United States." Don't turn your back on that thought because that is who we are and that is what we should stand for as a nation of free people. The only "change" we need in America is to find the thought processes that have been forgotten.

The times are not good. My sister n law works for a company in McDonough that has cut it's employee's again to a skeleton crew. The Obama Administration has helped very little to stop the loss of jobs in America. We have more and more people losing their homes because of the loss of jobs.
Georgia right now ranks number 5 in joblessness. This is a sad, but true story of further disaster for this nation.

The problems occurring in the Stockbridge government are due to ego and just plain ole fashion jealousy. I have been to several meetings of the council and it is very apparent that Kathy Gilbert wants to rule the roost. The problem is that she speaks with authority but with no substance. She didn't like former mayor Rudy Kelley and now she doesn't like the new mayor Lee Stuart whom she campaigned for during his election. She has been nasty and unfavorable in the eyes of the citizens. She doesn't like it because mayor Stuart has fought them on money matters and had to file suit against the council and city attorney to make it safe for him to retain his position.
The problem they need to worry about though is the loss of 549 homes to foreclosure in Henry County this month alone. This total with last months total puts the foreclosures at over 800 for the past two months. This is something to really worry about. Loss of tax revenue, loss of jobs, and homes sitting empty across the county will only make Henry look like a wilderness. We need leadership that can try to bring aid to these people before it is too late.

Working hard each day people are trying to keep the positions they have because right now nothing is out there so far as a new job for people to jump onto. It's hard to say how things will be under Nathan Deal. And in the run-off for district 2 commissioner here in Henry County it looks like it will be in contention right up to election day on 'Tue. Nov. 30th. Hopefully the people will make the right decision.

For those out there who have helped with the van fund I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. For those who have not given anything please find it within your heart to help someone try and get another vehicle to make his life better. Some may say that I am begging, well I may be, but it is for a good reason. I don't want to be a burden to others. I would rather my diseased body go home before I continue to be a burden to others. I love my life and my family and I wouldn't ask unless there was a good reason.

Well it's that time of year again and Christmas is upon us. In three short days we will be celebrating the birth of Jesus of Nazareth who was the Christ. He came to save us from our sins. Yet many people still don't know and don't realize who Jesus was and is to us. He is easy to speak with. You can talk with him just as you would with anyone else.

So give yourself the time to say happy birthday Jesus. He was born into poverty, lived a simple life, and gave his life that we may live. Now that is a present that cannot be given by anyone but him.

Happy Birthday sweet Jesus and Merry Christmas to all and to all a good life. Amen.

We are the lonely, tired, and just plain mad citizens of this nation. Again our gas prices are going far too high and it will affect our economy in bad ways again. Prices on everything will be raised because of this. Many prices raised before didn't come back down. I don't know how much more of this type of stupid pricing our nation can take. The people are not making enough money for this especially those on fixed incomes from Social Security. One would think that the government would say something especially where it is hurting the fabric of the nation. Silence on their part means they are part of the problem and the only way to fix that problem is at the ballot box.

We often see a quiet uninteresting person sitting in a crowd listening to whatever speech is being said or meeting is being held. This quiet unassuming person is making notes and not talking to those around them just listening intently. This person is a writer who is there to garner the facts to write later when the keyboard is their tool to the world. So when you go somewhere where there is an event and see some quiet unassuming person they are likely a writer of some sort there to find a story for the world to read.

The frailty of government is created by the weakness of man. People have many weaknesses that filter their way into everyday life. It doesn't matter if it is small town government or the Federal government in Washington they are all the same. People yelling at the top of their lungs for something better, but they cannot see that better is right in front of them.

Elections often bring out the worst in people, but in some cases it brings out the best. It is nice to see when candidates from the far end of the spectrum can meet and be cordial to one another. This is a rare opportunity these days when folks are looking for something to cause havoc in someone else's life. Most of this havoc is caused by outside forces who are trying to control the election that is at hand. Those forces will pit the candidates against one another in ways they didn't see coming and when they find out what has happened there is a lot of turmoil and pain for both sides while the third party sits in the dark and laughs because their agenda has been promoted. When running for public office always remember that there is a seed out in the public that wants to push it's ugliness forward using others to do so. Watch closely because they are not hard to find and when found out push them aside as the trash that they have become.

There are movements in our nation that are creating an underlying change in the political atmosphere that most Americans are used to seeing. It began with the Independent movement where politicians ran as Independents because they were not happy with the Republican or Democrat Parties and the platforms for which they stand.

Then we started seeing the various Tea Parties, 9-12 movements and even a Tenth Amendment group. We have had splinter groups of both the Republican and Democrat Parties which have some very radical ideas. Now we are seeing Occupy Groups in just about every major city in America. Their message is that they are tired of business as usual.

Most of this has been brought about by the Socialistic programs being issued by the current administration that rules Washington, D.C. We have a Congress that cannot work together without attacking one another with various types of salvos. The people in the nation don’t know what to make of much of this as they watch a steady parade of talking heads on the nightly news.

All this is happening while there are major changes occurring over the waters in the Middle East. Country after country is seeing their leadership change some in forced resignation and others through death. We are seeing nations on the European continent lose their economies due to the lack of good management. In Asia, we see China growing rapidly in the economic world, but they are on a slippery slope themselves because they don’t know how to manage the fruits of their labor.

Upon the African continent we are witnessing a mass genocide in some areas where people are being forced to starve to death. In some areas, the people are being dictated to by those who only want to see financial glory through the mass taking of oil reserves and using the people as slaves to gain their wealth.

Now this brings us back to our nation. A nation that has seen drastic changes in the economy, loss of property value, failing banks, and rising unemployment. The stock market rising and falling like someone with bad blood pressure. And all in the name of greed.

A nation where the President doesn’t mention God in his Thanksgiving address to the people. A nation that doesn’t want to say Merry Christmas anymore, but will wish you everything else. A nation that for some reason can’t find itself to say Christ anymore. This nation built upon the teachings of that Christ and from the book where you will find Him, The Holy Bible. This nation is letting a barbaric world creep into it’s society. It has been quietly happening for a long time, but now it finds itself in key positions within mainstream America. This barbarism instigates trouble on a grassroots level to gain something it wants so badly and that is power. The sad thing is that we let it happen because we are the home of the free and we left the door open too long. And all the while, this barbarism has pushed to the point where even our founding principles are awash in the squalor of unbridled lust.

The world looks to this nation for guidance and reprieve. But we cannot give our own people solitude of knowing that our laws will be obeyed by the masses. If the laws we create to rule ourselves are not enforced, then why do we make them? Why do we elect and pay people to make the laws if we shun them? This nation better wake up and find these answers soon while we still have a nation where you can even read these words.

May this election bring forth a new president that will make changes that will truly make the economy better and the lives of our citizens. I have written much in my lifetime and have seen so much and I can truly say that our nation is at a crossroads that it should not turn from. We know that Mr. Romney is not perfect, but he will not be set to destroy the very fabric of our nation such as Mr. Obama has set the pattern for in his past four years. Many thought that he was the premadonna and would make the changes needed in our nation. Well, they have now seen what a person bent on the One World Order will do for a nation in need. Hopefully, we can return to some form of democratic republic that our nation was set to be. Thank you and please get out and vote.

The Stockbridge City Council has embarked upon a journey that is making the city and county look bad. When an elected official is removed from office it has to be done by an investigation of the D.A. and charges from the Grand Jury and then placed before the Attorney General and Governor. This is an elected official not a hired employee. Now all this will end up in court. The lawyer hired to investigate the mayor should have presented the investigation to the council and left his personal feelings out of the mix. Instead in was a kangaroo court that looked much like the Nuremberg Trials. The citizens of Stockbridge should be ashamed of there leadership and demand that the Governor desolve the city of Stockbridge and unincorporate the place. The people who live there have the worst set of people running the council since the days of the Salem witch hunts. Mr. Thomas is the only councilman to be keeping his head and thinking of the citizens. Stockbridge is sitting under a veil of darkness right now and it appears to be getting worse.

Many people assert that professional historians should only “celebrate” our past and focus on events and people in history that make us feel good about ourselves. Above all we should stick to the “facts.”
But history is a discipline, and the critical examination and interpretation of historical evidence is an essential part of what professional historians do.
Good history goes far beyond a dry recitation of “facts.”
Facts are highly subjective, selectively chosen to buttress a particular viewpoint, and they never speak for themselves.
We all understand that contemporary issues are complex. Why do we expect our history to be any less complicated? It’s no more a summation of facts than the world in which we live now.
Our past — like our present — is a complex maze of interlocking economic, political, social and cultural forces that historians struggle to understand and recreate. No account of the past is ever completely impartial, because no human endeavor is or can be.
The best historians constantly ask new questions of old sources and re-examine previous interpretations in light of new evidence. No biography or work of history is therefore ever “definitive.” The past never changes, but history — the telling of the past — does.
Certainly much of our past is heroic and inspiring. That’s often what draws so many of us to love it in the first place. But to examine it uncritically simply to make ourselves feel good or confirm what we already know would be indoctrination, not education.

I have watched this county grow from a farming community with a small population to a bustling suburb community to Atlanta with a growing population of all races and religions. Henry County's Deputy Chief Major Stoney Mathis "Stoney Joe" on Face Book is not what everyones perception is of him. Stoney Mathis was married, with a daughter. While they are at home he is out huntin. Not animals, but women! Giving girls his phone number in bars and restaurants, even if the girl is with their significant other. Then he poses in a magazine article for Breast Cancer Awareness, saying support the beautiful women in your life. Really? How about supporting the women in your life, by being by their side instead of giving other women your phone number and trying to have a weekend extravaganza with them. People can change, if they are honest with themselves and those around them.

We are going into another phase of taxation upon us because only a few went out to vote. This new tax will ride heavily upon the backs of the poor in the next six years. Time and time again people have had the chance to stop things from happening, but they chose to stay at home. This is the continued decline of the America we once knew.

It is not good watching people tax themselves into oblivion with the words it is for the children or if you don't pass the SPLOST your property tax will go up. Your taxes are going up anyway with the reassessments. And the children will not be in the mix either. SPLOST V is a wonder. It is a proposed tax that wasn't sent to the election office on time to be put on the ballot, but it is on there. Some smart legal eagle will be able to take this one to task if they so mind. Get out and Vote No for SPLOST V in Henry County.

In a free society made up of a republic, the people have been guaranteed the freedom of speech and of the press. But too often in this society, free speech is often censored by those who would cry for their right to free speech. The ultimate oxymoron. Remember this, “when people of a free society cannot speak the truth, then nothing needs to be said.” Morality, good government and your rights take a back seat when you are told what to say and not say. This has happened before in history and continues today especially in socialist regimes of the world. And it occurs in those republics and democracies that lose sight of where they have been and where they are headed. Once you lose your basic rights then you have lost this free society.

Just sitting and thinking about our lives and how many people don’t realize how often we are manipulated into seeing what those in power deem is important for us. Those in power don’t understand that We The People have minds of our own and we will listen patiently to what they try to feed us and we can make up our own minds as to what is true and not. Our founding fathers fought and died for us today even though that was 243 years ago, it remains as one of the most important acts of our history. They gave us a Constitution and a Bill of Rights that are supposed to be the cornerstone of a free republic. But in the last couple of decades, those in power have been whittling away at those rights created by those who knew far better than those in power today. Those founding fathers came together at the right place and time in human history to create a nation built upon laws and ideas that will likely not be seen again in our history. Seldom in human history have so many brilliant minded men come together to create something so vital to the free world as they did and it had all the earmarks of divine intervention. But as has been the case in human history man often tears down what was once good for all. Please don’t let that spark of light that was created so long ago go out for the want of neglect by those who don’t know how to rekindle that light. Stand up and have strength enough to keep this republic going and not vanishing from history. Because once it is gone, it won’t be found again.
